There has long been a debate as to whether or not God created man, or man instead created God. What if just by praying and hoping and believing the immortals themselves came to exist? What if they held sway over your life exactally as the texts of the past say they did?
The planet is Earth, the year is 2012. Worldwide tensions have finally set off World War III, the most destructive and bloody war in the history of mankind. Many nations after the conflict were decimated, most of Europe was laid to waste as it was the focal point of the battling. Some nations made it through, the United States for instance joined the battle late due to previous enguagements and while suffering uncountable losses, remained standing.
The ruckus of the mortal world began to shake the interior of the heavens. The sudden influx of fallen warriors into Asgard awoke Odin and the Norse gods from thier sleep. The ever present Gods of Egypt found reason to exert themselves again over thier subjects and the Immortals of Olympus arose, seizing the new opprotunity of rebuilding to once again meddle in the affairs of mortals.
Not only did the 'old' Gods rise, but with the disenchantment the world felt after the war the people of Earth started turning thier hopes and prayers to different ideals. Immortals were elevated to new heights as ideas of balance and nature were put back into the forfront in the hearts of men. Powerful were these Deities that the 'old' Gods lost thier immediately regained ground fast.
Now it is up to the world to see how the future of the earth will be swayed. Who will gain the hearts and minds of the people? What Immortals will reign supreme? Only the hands of mortals can write history, and it falls to them to create a future worth living.
